PURPOSE OF THE MEETING:
LA’S longest running single day vegan tradition needs your assistance!
It’s almost the time when we traditionally gather for the annual Rancho Park Vegan Potluck Picnic on Thanksgiving Day. In case you are not familiar with this event, it has occurred every year at the same location for more than 25 years and is Los Angeles’ largest vegan potluck event of the year. Normally, hundreds of people attend annually. This event is created by the community for the community. This is an event that happens as a result of people showing up each year to gather as a community. Since 2013, some members of the community have met to plan and coordinate the details in order for the event to run efficiently and best serve our community. This year presents extra challenges to navigate due to COVID19. Help us decide as a community how we will deal with this challenge.

WHERE:

The volunteer meeting will take in person place at Cheviot Hills Recreation Area (Rancho Park) at the same location where the Thanksgiving Day event typically takes place. To help keep our community safe, while at the Volunteer meeting, please either wear a mask or keep a minimum of 6 feet from other participants (or both if you prefer). Please be on time. We are committed to completing this meeting no later than 3PM.

Everyone is welcome to attend the planning meeting . While coming to the meeting may provide you with information that you may find valuable and a chance to participate in the decision making process, YOUR ATTENDANCE IS NOT REQUIRED TO VOLUNTEER.
PLEASE INVITE all your friends who you think might be interested in helping plan or volunteer for this event.

VIRTUAL COORDINATION AND PLANNING:

WHAT TO BRING:
You are welcome to bring a vegan dish or snack for your own consumption if you wish. For safety, we will not be sharing food at the volunteer meeting.

MEETING LOCATION:
Weather permitting, we will meet at the same place where we meet for the Thanksgiving day gathering every year. In the event of inclement weather, an alternative location or virtual meeting information will be posted in this event description. If the picnic space is occupied, we will meet at the picnic area and move to an unoccupied area.

–> Enter Park at the north entrance on Motor Avenue (the first entrance south of Pico Blvd). When you enter the park, there is a parking area on the left. Drive passed this parking area and follow the road to the next parking area which is a few hundred feet down. Walk to the picnic tables across the grass and behind the baseball field. (There is another picnic area at the far end and close to the parking lot, this is not our picnic area.)
