“A Historical Review of Afro-Indigenous Plant-Based Traditions in the Circum-Caribbean and Caribbean Islands”

In honor of Caribbean Heritage Month, join Plant Powered Metro New York to learn about the multicultural influences that have shaped plant-based traditions such as Rastafarianism in Jamaica and the Caribbean region.

Our presenter Lisa Betty will share her family’s agricultural roots, as well as provide the historical context of Afro-Indigenous and Afro-Asiatic traditions found in the islands. Lisa Betty is currently a PhD candidate in History and instructor at Fordham University.
