Being Allies: How Plant-Powered Nutrition Can Unite Us in Struggle

March 27, 2020 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm

What do our food choices have to do with structural racism? Over a festive meal, join JCC Harlem, Repair the World, and Plant Powered Metro New York for a conversation between Tony Hillery, Executive Director of Harlem Grown, and Milton Mills, MD, a critical care physician based in Washington, DC, and national spokesperson for nutritional measures that reduce the risk of chronic illness. Dr. Mills will discuss the inherent racism of American food and nutrition policy and how we can unite across color lines to hasten our collective liberation with each meal.

Dinner is expected to begin at 8 PM and will be preceded by optional sabbath services beginning at 7:00 PM. The program will start around 8:30 PM.

A kosher, whole food, plant-based dinner will be catered by Harlem restaurant Seasoned Vegan. This program is sponsored in part by A Well-Fed World.
