Communicating and Setting Boundaries as a Vegan
September 13, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
We know boundaries keep us healthy, balanced, strong, and in control of our lives but…
How do we say no without feeling rude or guilty?
How do I request something different without being complicated or stressful to the host?
How do we partake in family get togethers where Uncle Ned doesn’t approve of our vegan choices?
When we choose to live vegan, it can cause some strange emotions and reactions from others and put us in a position where we’re not sure how to advocate for ourselves—restaurants, family holidays, strangers, spouses, friend get togethers.
Oftentimes our greatest barrier to our own freedom is our own mind telling us: “I’m a bother, I’ll just go with the crowd” or “I’m asking too much, I just shouldn’t come.”
This talk will address all of this and more.
Learn to:
• Recognize when you need a boundary
• Identify what type of boundary you need (emotional, physical, intellectual, material, time)
• Face the guilt, fears, and limiting beliefs that come along with setting boundaries (fear of failure, fear of abandonment, fear of rejection, fear of loss, etc.)
• Confidently communicate your boundaries in a way that feels safe and comfortable to you
• Handle any backlash that may come or people who push those boundaries
Be prepared to take notes and ask any questions during the bonus Q&A time at the end.
