Mlima’s Tale and Panel Discussion on the Ivory Trade in CT and Beyond
October 13, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Join us for a panel discussion on the ivory trade in Connecticut and beyond following the 3 pm matinee performance of “Mlima’s Tale” at the Westport Country Playhouse on Sunday, Oct. 13.
Mlima’s Tale is a powerful, theatrical fable about a magnificent and beloved Kenyan elephant named Mlima hunted for his coveted ivory tusks. As traffickers maneuver the illicit ivory market, the animal’s invincible spirit follows their path of desire, greed, crime and corruption.
After the performance, State Representative David Michel, Friends of Animals president Priscilla Feral, and long-time animal advocate Kenneth Bernhard will discuss their experiences with the ivory trade, ranging from government legislation to animal advocacy to on-the-ground operations, both internationally and within our own state.
