New Cooking Club: Fans of Forks Over Knives (initial meeting)
November 7, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Would you like to meet with a few other lovely people to cook delicious and nutritious plant-based food once per month for three months? This is your chance! This new “Fans of Forks Over Knives” cooking club will meet on three Tuesday evenings in November, December and January.
All cooking will be based on Forks Over Knives recipes (cookbooks or web site). That means whole foods, plant-based, no oil, and no (or very low) salt.
Together we will cook and eat. There will be a little food to to take home but this is not a batch cooking group.
The Fans of Forks Over Knives Cooking Club will meet on:
– Tuesday November 12 at 5 pm
– Tuesday December 10 at 5 pm
– Tuesday January 7 at 5 pm
The exact location of the cooking club will be disclosed to confirmed participants after this meetup but it’s not far from Broadway and Cambie in central Vancouver.
===> This Meetup (Thursday November 7 at 7 pm) is solely for the initial meeting where we will get acquainted and decide on which recipes to make the following weekend – no cooking! If you are very interested in the “Fans of Forks Over Knives Cooking Club” but exceptionally unable to meet at this time, message me and we’ll talk.
This Meetup will gather in the Whole Foods Cambie EATING AREA (NOT the upstairs Allegro coffee shop). Look for the “Meetup” sign on the table.
These Meetups are free but you will have to pay for the ingredients of the dish you’ll be taking the lead on. Keep in mind that recipes may have to be doubled. I encourage you to choose inexpensive dishes. We will discuss the exact choice of recipes at our initial Meetup but all recipes should come from the Forks Over Knives cookbooks or web site.
After the initial Meetup and first (November) cooking club, we will coordinate the choice of dish for the next Meetups (December and January) by email.
MUST READ: VERY IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE PLANT-BASED COOKING CLUBS
To keep this a safe and comfortable environment for everyone, and because these events will happen in the private homes of hosts, we need to set some ground rules. The host (that’s Brigitte) can back out of hosting at any time, or politely choose not to invite someone they do not feel comfortable around into their home kitchen. Conversely, any participant can back out of the club at any moment for any reason. Just be polite about it and make sure to notify the host and/or myself. Everyone has to commit to not taking this process personally while remaining courteous throughout. Not everyone is meant to be friends with everyone and that’s OK. IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THIS RULE, I ASK THAT YOU KINDLY REFRAIN FROM PARTICIPATING.
Participants must commit to bringing the required ingredients (everything must be vegan) for their recipe (possibly doubled), plus their own containers, knives and cutting boards if requested by the host.
Participants commit to cleaning up so that the host is left with a clean kitchen.
Participants promise to practice good kitchen hygiene, washing hands often, tying long hair or wearing a hairnet, and not licking the spoon. 🙂
