What: Pino Trail DIFFICULT hike plus vegan picnic on the trail

Time: Sunday May 12th, 9:30 AM

Location: Pino Trailhead, Elena Gallegos Park, Albuquerque, NM 87111 (The parking lot is a counterclockwise loop. Meet at the 3rd trailhead as you circumnavigate the parking lot.) GPS coordinates[masked], [masked]

Price: $2 for parking. You may need exact change.

This is a difficult hike! Please RSVP only if you are physically prepared for a round trip of about 10 miles with an elevation gain of about 2800 feet.

This time we are going to try to make it all the way up to the Crest Trail at the top of the mountain, then we’ll turn around and return the same way. We will enjoy beautiful views and we will get close enough to see and hear the Sandia Peak Tram. The higher portions of this hike will even provide us with shade from the trees.

Pack yourself a vegan lunch or snacks. We’ll look for a resting place along the way for a break to eat and converse. I’m not advocating a potluck, but sharing is certainly not prohibited.
