Sentience in the Sea, with Hope Bohanec
June 19, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
SENTIENCE IN THE SEA, WITH HOPE BOHANEC, WED. JUNE 19 AT 6 PM
On Wed. June 19 at 6 pm, Hope Bohanec, vegan activist, executive director of Compassionate Living, organizer of the Sonoma County Veg Fest and Berkeley Earth Day, and author of the cutting-edge expose, “The Ultimate Betrayal: Is There Happy Meat?” will give a ground-breaking presentation about the emotional lives of fish.
“Sentience in the Sea” contains cutting-edge discoveries which are so amazing that Hope has been invited to be on the expert panel on fish at the Animal Rights National Conference in Washington DC in July of this year.
Here is how Hope describes it:
“When we hear about fishing, it’s generally in the context of the impact on the ocean and the environment, but what about the individual fish? There is now extensive scientific research confirming that fish suffer pain, experience fear, feel joy, and form friendships. I will discuss the amazing latest scientific research on fish and how our sentient sea cousins navigate complex lives, play and have fun, have individual personalities, preference, family lives, and complexities. We will learn who fish are and how we can help protect them.”
Hope will also have copies of her extraordinary book, “The Ultimate Betrayal: Is There Happy Meat?” available for signing and purchase.
Don’t miss this eye-opening presentation which can change the way we look at our sentient sea cousins!
First, enjoy a FABULOUS vegan dinner planned by a certified nutritionist. YES! We will have MORE than enough food! ALL vegan. ALL health-supporting. Just do let us know if you plan to attend, so the nutritionist can plan how much to prepare.
Location is the Opera Plaza Community Room, 601 Van Ness, San Francisco. Take the elevator to the mezzanine, then follow the signs down the hall to the right.
Is there a cost? I wish I could say there is not. But we have to rent the venue, prepare the dinner and bring it and supplies. Yet . . . a full-course vegan dinner, including beverages and desserts, for how much? Only a fifteen dollar requested donation. That is unbeatable for what you are getting, here in the Bay Area.
RSVP to reserve your place! Do so here, OR email to: [masked] OR call (888)[masked].
Co-sponsored with the SF Veg Society.
See you there!
