VegKC Restaurant Meetup – Blue Koi
May 11, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
We’ll be meeting at Blue Koi Sat, May 11th. Many delicious vegan items to choose from on their menu. (Every vegetarian item on their menu is actually vegan.) They do add a 20% tip onto each bill for large groups but their service is usually excellent. Hope to see you all there!
Please – make the effort to keep your RSVP accurate!!! We need venues to happily continue to accommodate us. Imagine reserving most of the seats in a busy restaurant, and then showing up with only a handful of people…
If you enjoy our events as much as we do, please also consider donating a few dollars to help our volunteers cover our Meetup site costs. Contribute online (https://secure.meetup.com/vegetarian-14/contribute/) or in person.

We will be selecting and posting a venue for this month’s restaurant event shortly.
Some of our favorite Veg friendly places in the area that you may enjoy checking out are FüD (vegan), Cáfe Gratitude (vegan), Mud Pie Vegan Bakery and Cáfe, Eden Alley (vegetarian), Waldo Pizza (vegan menu), Blue Koi Noodles & Dumplings (Cantonese style Chinese), Aladdin Cáfe (Middle Eastern), Blue Sushi Sake (lots of unusual veggie rolls), il Lazzarone (Neapolitan style pizza), Blue Nile (Ethiopian), Korma Sutra (Indian), Malay Cafe (Malaysian), Thailand Restaurant (Blue Springs), Spices (Thai), Chez Elle Creperie and Coffee House (gluten free/vegan substitutions), Nguyen Pho (veggie broth!), and Fervere Bakery. Plus many other options in the area to explore.
Some popular Veg friendly chains to be aware of include: Planet Sub, Chipotle (pinto beans vegan? Added Sofritas!), Qdoba, The Mixx, PF Changs, Ruby Tuesday (salad bar), Taco Bell (Ordering Fresco style easily makes many things vegan), Panera Bread / Saint Louis Bread Company (breads may not be strictly vegan), Noodles & Company, Pei Wei Asian Diner, Subway, Houstons (veg burger – order vegan bread), among others…
If you’re new to a particular type of food and interested in ordering it veg*n, be sure to ask or research what to substitute for or order it without… For example: Thai food often has fish sauce, egg, or oyster sauce. Waldo pizza has soy cheese – which isn’t vegan – see their vegan menu. Vietnamese food often uses fish sauce – substitute peanut sauce. Indian food frequently has ghee or butter.
